Counselling

Counselling/Counselling Psychology

Counselling is an opportunity to talk about what troubles you and to be listened to in a way which assists you to understand yourself better, including your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It can help you to explore difficult feelings and work out some ways of living your life more positively or constructively.

Your therapist is trained to listen and to reflect back on what you want to express but is not there to give you advice or to pass judgement on anything you say, He or she will assist you to gain insight and make your own decisions. Sometimes, but not always, counselling feels like hard work. You may experience difficult and painful emotions along the way. It can also be an interesting and helpful experience which enables many people to feel much happier about themselves and their lives.

If you have a psychiatric assessment you can be advised whether counseling or counseling psychology is best suited in your case.
