Understanding ASC –
A Different Way of Thinking

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) (previously referred to as ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is a lifelong developmental difference. It affects how people perceive the world, communicate, and interact—but it is not a mental illness or learning disability. Often misunderstood, ASC simply means your brain works differently.

We recognise the power of neurodivergence. Our clinic embraces your individuality while helping you understand and navigate the challenges ASC may bring, especially in a world designed for the neurotypical majority.

Is It Time to Get Assessed?

If you’ve always felt "different," struggled socially, or feel overwhelmed by change or sensory overload—you’re not alone. Getting an ASC diagnosis can be transformative:

  • Understand yourself better
  • Reduce anxiety and self-doubt
  • Connect with support communities
  • Improve relationships and self-esteem

More than 1 in 100 people are autistic—many without a diagnosis. Could you be one of them?

Our Diagnostic Process – Step by Step

We’ve made the journey as smooth and supportive as possible. Whether you’re self-funding or using private insurance like BUPA, the pathway is the same. Here’s what to expect:

Step 1

Start with the AQ50 Questionnaire

If your score meets the threshold, you’ll be eligible to continue.

Step 2

Clinical Consultation
(50 mins)

A detailed discussion with your Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Allen to determine if a full ASC assessment is appropriate.

Step 3

Appointment 1 & 2
(1 hour each)

Two in-depth interviews with our specialist ASC therapist. You’ll need to attend with the same informant (someone who knows you well) to both. This person can attend remotely from a different location to you

Step 4

Final Appointment
(25 mins)

Back with Dr Allen to review the results, receive your diagnosis (if appropriate), and explore support options.

COST:

BUPA-Insured Patients
After your first consultation with Dr Allen, he will write to BUPA asking for further pre-authorisation. We will only ask you to pay any amount BUPA do not cover (for example an excess on your policy).

Self-Funded
Full package £1,630.

What Happens After Diagnosis?

While ASC is not something to be "cured", understanding your diagnosis can help you thrive. We offer:

  • Nutrition Support Clinic – Improve gut health, reduce sensory-related food issues, and optimise well-being.
  • Workplace Support – We provide Reasonable Adjustment Letters to ensure your employer supports your needs.
  • Post-Diagnostic Guidance – Strategies to manage anxiety, improve relationships, and better navigate everyday life.
